about me

I am a Graphic Designer and Image Maker with more than 25 years of experience working for both B2B and B2C clients. I currently hold the position of brand manager for the innovative German food technologies company Elea GMBH, and I also consult / design for a limited number of freelance clients.

As brand manager for Elea, I am responsible for all of the company's design requirements. Elea's brand identity, collateral and attributes have been conceived, developed and designed by myself.

Elea's innovative product is science-based, and its offering is complex, requiring creative and informed solutions that engage and educate its target audience. Infographics, illustration, animation, film, photography, and good tone of voice copywriting are all critical components of the brand collateral.

Most of this material is produced by me in-house. I have a background in illustration (2d and 3d), good photographic skills, and some experience in filmmaking and editing, which all augment my design skills.

I am also responsible for the company's art direction. I work closely with creative partners (filmmakers, web developers, photographers, copywriters, etc.) to ensure that all collateral and content is engaging, on brand, on time, and of the highest quality. Art direction from me includes developing, delivering and presenting the brief, writing, storyboarding and directing moving images, and providing wireframes, layout and content for web development. Direction, insight and support about the product. Strategy, planning and oversight. Effective strategy and continued management of the customer journey as our clients, markets, and competition evolve are crucial to my role as Brand Manager at Elea.

Elea utilizes both outbound and inbound marketing strategies, with short, medium and long-term efforts clustered around specific product applications and related events. I work closely with my R&D, sales and business development coworkers to align strategic objectives and targeted applications/markets with the highest quality content and collateral, released at the right time, in the right place, and targeted at the right audience. Outside of Elea, I also have a number of days available for freelance projects.

MY BACKGROUND

I have a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art & Fine Art History.

After leaving university, I worked as a junior art worker and designer at the Bath-based UK agency RADIO. After four years, I left and went freelance. I have been working with other agencies and my own list of clients ever since.

In 2007 I formed a creative partnership with illustrator Simon Spilsbury called Artbombers. We produced mixed media images for an international client list combining Simons's fluid and expressive line with my tight technical illustration.

In 2009 we won an AOI gold award in advertising for our work with the Paramount Comedy Channel commissioned by Farm. 

During this period, I continued working as a graphic designer refining my skills. I moved with my family to Berlin in late 2011, where I practised from my studio in Mitte. I returned to Bournemouth in the UK in August 2015.
